Roamies ("we," "our," or "us") is a dating and social app for the vanlife community. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services. Please read it carefully.

• Account information: Email address, display name, and password (or credentials from sign-in providers such as Google or Apple).
• Profile information: Photos, bio, age, vehicle type, travel style, activities, dating mode (dating / friends / both), and planned destinations.
• Convoy (travel plans): Routes, steps, descriptions, and optional location data you choose to share when creating or joining plans.
• Communications: Messages you send to other users in chat.
• Invite codes: If you sign up with an invite code, we store the association between you and the inviter.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device information: Device type, operating system, and unique identifiers necessary for the app to function (e.g. for push notifications and in-app purchases).
• Location data: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show distance to other users, display your position on the map, and improve discovery and convoy features. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.
• Usage data: General usage of the app (e.g. to operate the service, prevent abuse, and improve the product).

1.3 Information From Third-Party Services

• Sign-in providers: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the account information they make available (e.g. email, name, profile photo) in line with your permissions.
• In-app purchases: Purchase and subscription status are processed by Apple and Google and shared with us via RevenueCat so we can grant premium features and restore purchases.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account and profile.
• Provide matching, discovery, chat, and convoy (travel plans) features.
• Show your profile to other users (according to your settings and our rules) and display distance when you have allowed location access.
• Send you push notifications (e.g. new matches, messages) if you have enabled them.
• Process in-app purchases and subscriptions and restore them across devices.
• Enforce our Terms of Service, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect safety.
• Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
• Analyze and improve the app (e.g. performance, reliability, and user experience).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing.

3. How We Share Your Information

• Other users: Your profile (photos, bio, age, vehicle type, activities, mode, and approximate distance if location is enabled) is visible to other users in line with app functionality. Convoy plans you create or join may be visible according to visibility settings (e.g. public or matches only). Messages are shared only with the conversation participants.
• Service providers: We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf, including:
  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, database (Firestore), cloud storage, and cloud functions.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management.
  • Expo: Push notifications (Expo Push).
  • Google Maps: Map display and related features when you use the map or location-based features.
  These providers are bound by contracts that limit their use of your data to providing and improving our services.
• Legal and safety: We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Roamies, our users, or the public.

4. Data Retention

• We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active.
• If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data in line with our retention practices and legal obligations. Some data may be retained where required for legal, safety, or legitimate operational reasons (e.g. fraud prevention).
• Chat messages and convoy-related data are retained as needed to operate the service and as required by law.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data (e.g. via profile and account settings).
• Delete your account and request deletion of your personal data.
• Object or restrict certain processing.
• Data portability (e.g. receive a copy of your data in a portable format where applicable).
• Withdraw consent where we rely on consent (e.g. location, push notifications) by changing device or in-app settings.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

7. Children's Privacy

Roamies is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. contracts, standard contractual clauses) are in place for such transfers where required by law.
